THE QUEEN OF MALAYSIA FAREWELL LUNCH HOSTED BY DATO' NANCY YEOH AT HILTON KUALA LUMPUR

KEE@FSWMAG.COM

MALAYSIA'S CURRENT QUEEN DYMM TUANKU NUR ZAHIRAH WILL SOON DEPART THE NATIONAL PALACE FOR TRENGGANU AS IT HAS BEEN 5 GLORIOUS YEARS SINCE HER MAJESTY AND HER HUSBAND HIS MAJESTY THE KING OF MALAYSIA TUANKU MIZAN ZAINAL ABIDIN BEGAN THEIR REIGN ON 13 DECEMBER 2006 AS THE 13TH KING AND QUEEN OF MALAYSIA.

BORN ON 7 DECEMBER 1973 IN ALOR STAR, CAPITAL OF KEDAH, HER MAJESTY'S NAME WAS ROZITA BINTI ADIL BAKERI. HER MAJESTY MARRIED HIS MAJESTY SULTAN MIZAN ZAINAL ABIDIN ON 28 MARCH 1996. SHE BECAME KNOWN AS CIK PUAN SRI ROZITA ADIL BAKERI UNTIL 19 JULY 1998 WHEN SHE BECAME PERMAISURI NUR ZAHIRAH AT THE COMMAND OF TUANKU MIZAN ZAINAL ABIDIN WHEN HE ASCENDED THE THRONE OF TRENGGANU ON 5 JUNE 2006.

Her Majesty's reign will soon be over as the Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah will ascend the throne of Malaysia as the 14th King and Queen of Malaysia. So there has been many official, semi-official and private farewell lunches, tea and dinners for the royal couple as they prepare to return to Trengganu to resume their reign as the 17th Sultan and Sultanah of Trengganu until another 40 years when it is again their turn to be the Yang DiPertuan Agong and Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia.

Dato Nancy Yeoh was granted the honour of being allowed to host a farewell lunch for Duli Yang Maha Mulia Permaisuri Agong Malaysia on 4 December 2011 at KL Hilton. It was meant to be a ladies' event only and 59 were invited.

As I am as good, f not better, than any woman, I insisted on attending and I had to be officially a member of Dato Nancy Yeoh's staff. However, Her Majesty knows of my existence and Dato' Nancy Yeoh officially introduced me to Her Majesty to legitimize my appearance. Dato Nancy said, "Your Majesty, I am sure you know Mr Kee Hua Chee who insists he is as good as any of us and I hope his presence today is acceptable." Her Majesty nodded and smiled so I assumed my head would not roll.

The other VVIP was HRH Sultanah Kalsom of Pahang who gave me the Leica D-Lux 4 Limited Edition camera which has improved my photography by leaps and bounds. As usual, Her Royal Highness stopped to examine my rings and necklace and remarked I looked like I got them from some Maharajah's treasury.

Other VVIPs were Tengku Puteri Lela Wangsa Pahang Tengku Tan Sri Meriam Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang and her sister Tengku Kamala Pahang Tengku Aishah Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang and Tengku Dottie of Perak who has 5 gorgeous sons!

Max Factor sponsored the make-up and occupied an entire room. Make-up artistes were on standby to apply the finishing touches should any be required. Quite a few were only too happy to make use of this facility.

The dress code was cream, beige and brown which I followed assiduously as I was only there by default so I thought I should stick to the dress code like a leech. Her Majesty arrived in the colour scheme she selected but as usual, some came in exact opposite colours. I was shocked they dared to defy the queen's chosen dress code!

So I went around pointing fingers at them. Their excuses? "No one told me" or "I didn't realise" or "My handbag is beige" or "Isn't this cream colour" or "I don't have any beige or cream colours in my wardrobe" or "The stones on my necklace have spots of brown" and "Why are you being like Joan Rivers?"

Don't you think all their excuses are so feeble? I do. As money is the least of their worries, they should buy some cream/brown clothes from ZARA or MNG or some second hand shops if times are really bad for them. I am also convinced none are seriously colour blind to be incapable of telling the difference between the colours of the rainbow and cream and brown!

The food was superb and those seated from tables 3 to 6 enjoyed lunch buffet style.

Her Majesty the Queen even walked out to check the sumptuous spread and decide on her dessert. She was followed by HRH Sultanah Kalsom of Pahang and both were suitably amazed to see a giantess at least 10 ft tall just outside their dining room!

The giantess was actually a member of RAPR all dolled up with black bin bags, the sort you use to line your dustbin! Trash is apparently the new black! And recycling has never been more fashionable!

After lunch, the guests were invited to sit outside for the fashion show featuring the 7 Deadly Sins of the World created by Bill Keith and STYLO Mercedes-Benz Emerging Designer of the Year 2011 Leonardo Peh.

As Her Majesty's birthday was on 7 December, Dato' Nancy Yeoh decided to throw a surprise birthday cake for Her Majesty. Sighed Dato Nancy, "Except this would not be a surprise after all. Someone told Her Majesty I would be throwing a surprise birthday cake! So perhaps Her Majesty could pretend to look surprised something!"

Her Majesty Tuanku Nur Zahirah and HRH Sultanah Kalsom graciously consented to be photographed with the occupants of each of the 6 tables after the cake cutting ceremony.

We wish Her Majesty the fondest farewell possible and thank you for being our Queen and Permaisuri Agong for the last 5 years. Long may you reign in Trengganu with His Majesty Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin!
