Invest in one these glam, yet understated outfits and you can sail through the seasons in deluxe style!

'Vintage' is the preferred and nicer version of 'secondhand'! If you have an ancient car on its last rickety wheels, you sell it as a 'vintage' car instead of a second or third hand car! Ditto for second hand clothes! 'Vintage' garments sound so much better than 'secondhand' or 'hand me downs', don't you think?

As we know, Athens at the best of times is not a fashion capital though it did introduce the toga which is a fashion legend in its own right. But that was 3,000 years ago.

Today, Greece is on its last legs and about to be kicked out of the European Union anytime now. Its buying power has slumped to an alltime low and few Athenians are queuing to buy the latest couture that costs RM 120,000 a dress. They are more likely to queue for free food and hands-out.

So now is the time to sell secondhand, er, vintage clothes at knockdown prices as few Greeks are in the mood to throw or attend fashion shows let alone buy brand new, pricey clothes.

Personally I am fond of vintage, old garments as certain attire are timeless and stand the ravages of time. A classic design like Volkswagen or Chanel suit or Birkin lasts forever. If there is a vintage store, chances are you will find me there browsing through so I wish I could be in Athens from 9 November till 8 December. If you are going there, make sure you visit McArthurglen for some fab buys!
