FLEUR THE UNDERGARMENT SPECIALIST HELD A LAVISH LUNCH AT SAGE AT THE GARDENS TO INTRODUCE THE NEW COLLECTION BY KATE LIEGEY

KEE@FSWMAG.COM
FLEUR (WHICH MEANS 'FLOWER' IN FRENCH) HOSTED A LAVISH AND FRIGHTFULLY EXPENSIVE LUNCH AT SAGE THE POSH EATERY AT THE GARDENS AT MIDVALLEY.

FLEUR BOUTIQUES ARE AT THE GARDENS MALL (O3-2282 3889) IN MIDVALLEY AND SRI HARTAMAS SHOPPING CENTRE (03-6201 0313), PLAZA DAMAS, KL.

It was a ladies' affair but since the press was invited, businesswomen Lim Ai San had no choice but to grudgingly invite a few male reporters.

I of course qualified as 'honorary female' since I have never met a woman more beautiful than me.

American designer Kate Liegey was supposed to be the foreign guest of honour and Toh Puan Mahani Daim the Malaysian guest of honour. Sadly Kate was diagnosed with breast cancer and for the second time too!

Says Fleur's boss Lim Ai San, "This happened just a few days before the launch as Kate had to be flown back to USA for urgent treatment. I was prepared to cancel the event but Kate insisted it should go ahead."

Then the slim and sexy Lim Ai San had a brainwave and decided to turn a sad occasion into a more positive one----by raising funds for breast cancer awareness with all proceeds going to Pink Unity, a Malaysian organisation to help families of women stricken by this scourge.

"Fleur (located at The Gardens Mall and Sri Hartamas Shopping Centre) decided to donate RM 10,000 worth of undergarments and support bras for cancer survivors to Pink Unity and 6 exclusive Kate Liegey undergarments so ravishing they could be worn as outerwear for parties though you might add a slinky fur stole or mink wrap or short jacket.

The silent auction raised RM 12,000 and Toh Puan Mahani Daim then contributed an extra RM 1,000 to the good cause. Thank you Toh Puan Mahani for your kind gesture.

Exclusive Malaysian intimate Wear boutique, FLEUR, held an
elegant ladies luncheon at Sage, The Gardens, to showcase the stunning collaboration with American Intimate Wear Designer, Kate Liegey.

Although the luncheon was originally themed around Kate’s appearance with
her designs, regretfully Kate was unable to join the luncheon as she was
diagnosed with breast cancer and had to be rushed back to her home in the
US to seek immediate therapy.

While being faced with this dilemma of the invites already being sent, and
Kate’s unfortunate situation; the Management of FLEUR had decided to turn a
difficult situation to a positive one as a tribute to Kate and her condition - a
Breast Cancer Awareness initiative.

While still keeping the focus on Kate’s collaboration collection with FLEUR
and also on FLEUR’s very on Collection of scintillating and luxurious
brassiere. FLEUR had also picked a few of Kate’s items to be auctioned off
at the Luncheon with all the proceeds directed to PINK UNITY (an arm of the
National Cancer Society of Malaysia focusing on women and their families
with Breast Cancer).

FLEUR has also pledged a RM10, 000 (Ten thousand Ringgit Malaysia) worth
of a special collection of brassiere created especially for women afflicted with
the condition. The brassiere is made from the same material used for
newborn babies clothing and with ergonomically positioned seaming to
ensure ultimate fit and comfort when worn.

The elegant luncheon event was very well attended by some of the most
beautiful and generous-hearted women of the Malaysian high society
including Toh Puan Mahani Daim, Puan Sri Molly Low, Che Puan Winnie
Sophia Low, Puan Sri Ivy Tan, Ms. Ning Baizura, Ms. Maple Loo, Mrs. Sabah
Bakhache, Ms. Winnie Loo, Dato’ Tracy Ong, Datin Catherine Lai, among
many others.

6 beautiful models showcased FLEUR’s Spring Summer 2013 Collection of
their brassiere along with Kate’s stunning shape wear for FLEUR. The shape
wear were designed not to just shape and hold, but to look very much like real
apparel that women can wear without looking like inner wear! The ladies at
the luncheon were charmed by the items and could not wait for more.

Then Host, Ms. Bernie Chan, dressed in one of Kate Liegey’s control slip, and
Ms. Lim Ai San, Deputy Chairman of FLEUR, help introduce the 6 units of
Kate Liegey’s collection to be auctioned. The bids for the items were done as
a silent-auction. After a detailed description of the items and a suspenseful
silent-bidding, RM12, 000 was raised.

4 representatives from PINK UNITY (who are all Breast Cancer Survivors)
were invited up to receive the RM10,000 pledge letter from the Management
of FLEUR, and along with the proceeds from the auction of RM12, 000.

To close the event, FLEUR also previewed a new technology and a new
service of bespoke “Made-To-Order” intimate wear and also showcased 3
models of the future collection that was very well received by the guests.

The guests left with their doorgifts from FLEUR and their cosponsors CLE DE
PEAU BEAUTE and ALQVIMIA.
