10 Malaysian winners got more than they bargained for at Carlsberg’s most epic global Where’s The Party? finale held recently at the Swedish Maritime Museum in Stockholm.

“It was my first visit to Stockholm, a country that is well-known for great rave parties and producing some of the world’s top DJs. But I certainly did not expect to meet Axwell in person. After all, he’s headlining one of the biggest parties in Europe this year. Getting to meet and banter with him up close and personal was one of the greatest highlights of this adventure!” exclaimed the 25-year old Evan Cheong, from Subang Jaya.

Cheong was one of the five winners who had managed to bag themselves the exclusive money-can’t-buy passes to the ‘Ultimate Summer Party” by Carlsberg.  Like the other winners, Lim Zhen Goh, Choo Soon Foh, Alan Teoh Kar Pin, and Tay Chow Peng, Cheong was also able to bring a friend along to what was to become one of the hottest, most talked about events in Europe!

There, they were joined by their fellow WTP? 2013 winners from 18 nations as well as 10,000 other party and Carlsberg fans from across the world for an explosive summer bash with Axwell, formerly of Swedish House Mafia, as he took centre stage in one of the biggest club tents ever erected on the hallowed grounds of the historic landmark in Stockholm. The 18 countries that took part in the Where’s the Party? campaign included Sweden, Finland, Cyprus, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Germany, USA, Canada, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Holland, Iceland, Canary Islands, Mexico and Malta.

Another lucky contest winner, Lim, 26, from Rawang said, “I have attended all of the WTP? series organised by Carlsberg and I’m glad to be one of the lucky few. We were treated with great hospitality the moment we touched down at the airport and it never stopped until our return to Malaysia. It was truly an amazing experience to party with Carlsberg in style.”

The five Malaysian pairs were given the full VIP treatment through the duration of the trip. They were picked up at the airport, chauffeured to chic accommodations in the city centre and doted on by a dedicated Carlsberg brand ambassador throughout their stay. There was also a pre-party held at Café Opera, one of the most iconic and busiest clubs in all of Sweden; a favourite haunt of A-list Hollywood stars. Amidst amazing views of a historic Swedish castle, the lucky Malaysians were entertained by DJ Tim Henry and have their picture taken with Axwell himself at the pre-party.

The very next day at the Swedish Maritime Museum, which was transformed into a gigantic nightclub space. Carlsberg’s WTP? 2013 winners from all around the world were given the best seats in the house, in the middle of tens of thousands of screaming fans. Headlining the party, Axwell did not disappoint with his marksmanship on the deck, enhanced by extravagant stage setup, pyrotechnics and state-of-the-art special effects.

Choo, 33, from Subang Jaya, described it as one of the most awesome party experiences he ever had. He said, “I have attended many rave parties in Malaysia and overseas, but this is the first time I’ve been invited to one in Sweden. The magnificent setup and amazing performance by Axwell was definitely on a whole different level. I’m also very appreciative of the opportunity provided to me by Carlsberg to be able to meet Axwell in person,” he added.

The five lucky winners had earlier attended Carlsberg WTP? 2013 in Malaysia. They proved themselves to be bold enough to step up to the challenges presented via the Carlsberg ‘Be Bold’ phone app contest or the ‘Follow the Beat of Axwell’ interactive video experience.

Commenting on this year’s WTP?, Carlsberg Malaysia Managing Director Henrik Andersen said, “Our WTP? series certainly ended on a resounding note with one of the world’s largest and most notable summer bashes this year. We are glad that our Malaysian winners proved to be bold and did what was necessary to be rewarded with a fantastic experience that will last them an entire lifetime.”

Earlier in July this year, more than 3,000 party-goers turned up at one of the country’s largest exhibition parks and show grounds for WTP? 2013 Malaysia. The venue was transformed into a ‘jet-set’ venue complete with a rare Antonov transport airplane forming part of the backdrop. The event was headlined by Swedish Dub House duo Cazette and supported by a non-stop mix of international artistes and local heroes.
