ONE & ONLY RESORTS SAYS "HUANG YING NI" TO CHINESE GUESTS! TIME WAS WHEN VISITORS FROM MAINLAND CHINA WERE GREETED WITH REVULSION, FEAR AND HORROR AS THEY WERE POOR, PEE IN THE LIFT AND WRETCHEDLY UNSOPHISTICATED, LIABLE TO QUOTE MAO ZEDONG'S SAYINGS AT THE DROP OF A CHOPSTICK! NO LONGER!!!! CHINESE TOURISTS ARE NOW THE NEW JAPANESE AND WELCOMED BY 5-STAR HOTELS AND SHOPS WITH HONOUR! AFTER ALL THEIR RENMIMBI OR YUAN ARE BUSY BURNING HOLES IN THEIR BOTTOMLESS POCKETS!

I STILL REMEMBER THE TIME WHEN I USED TO MAKE INSTANT CASH FROM MAINLAND CHINA'S TOURISTS IN PARIS A DOZEN YEARS AGO. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED...

I would go to Louis Vuitton boutique in Avenue Montaigne where there were bound to be lost of Chinese tourists looking pathetic and desperate. Reason? Louis Vuitton would only sell each Mainlander 1 bag each as they know the chinks would resell them for big profit back home in China! Since I am a highclass Malaysian and not evil communist (remember the only good commie is a dead one?) I could buy half a dozen using my Malaysian credit card and Malaysian passport. The chinks would pay me 200 French francs for each bag! The euros did not exist yet at the time! So everyday I made easy pocket money!

Now of course the selfsame Chinese tourists are welcomed with champagne and taken inside to private rooms so they could choose their purchases in style! How times have changed!

One&Only Resorts Says “Huan Ying Ni!” to Chinese Guests

One&Only Resorts provide unrivalled Chinese language hospitality, Union Pay access and dining experiences at its stunning collection around the world

“Huang Ying Ni!” or “Welcome to You!” is a phrase that rings across many One&Only Resorts as the brand continues to welcome the rise of Chinese guests to all seven of its collection. Chinese guest services at the renowned resorts now include Putonghua language services, Union Pay access, Chinese newspapers and news channels availability, as well as Chinese food and beverage options.

Set in some of the most beautiful locations in the world and offering guests a distinctive style and personality reflecting the local culture, One&Only Resorts offers its Chinese guests unrivalled Chinese language hospitality and culturally sensitive options. To make sure that Chinese guests feel welcomed and understood throughout their stay, many One&Only Resorts, such as One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives as well as One&Only The Palm and One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai now employ Chinese speaking staff at their Concierge, Reception, One&Only Spa, Gift Shop and restaurants to make sure that all requests from Chinese guests are fully understood and better serviced.

Another important Putonghua addition to help welcome Chinese guests include availability of Chinese magazines, newspapers and TV channels upon request at One&Only The Palm, One&Only Royal Mirage, One&Only Cape Townin South Africa and One&Only Le Saint Geranin Mauritius, helping guests stay connected to their home country and entertained in their native language. This means that Chinese guests can now experience any kind of luxury holiday, whether it be to a remote island retreat on pristine white beaches of One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives, amidst the soaring skyscrapers of Dubai at One&Only Royal Mirage or overlooking breath-taking Table Mountain from One&Only Cape Town, while still being able to speak, read and watch TV in Putonghua without the need for anxiousness or the fear of being misunderstood.

One&Only Resorts also understands the need to offer Union Pay to its Chinese guests and has put the system into place across the collection.

“We are very excited to be extending our Chinese-language and Chinese-culture services in all of our properties. Chinese guests are of ever-increasing importance to us and we want to make sure that they are well looked after and comfortable at all times during their stay,” commented  Mark DeCocinis, Chief Operating Officer, One&Only Resorts. “This is particularly key as we open our first resort in China, One&Only Sanya, , which will redefine the luxury experience on Hainan.”

Authentic Chinese culinary options remains important to Chinese guests, and One&Only Resorts have responded by developing signature Chinese breakfast dishes in some of its properties as well as making sure that chopsticks are always available upon request. At One&Only Reethi Rah, Chinese breakfast options include signature Chinese dishes such as Bao Zi (steamed bun filled dumplings) and Zheng Jiao (steamed dumplings). One&Only Cape Town also offers guests a selection of Chinese breakfast options, such as a choice of noodle dishes at the celebrated buffet at Reuben’s Restaurant. In the same vein, One&Only Le Saint Geran offers its Chinese guests options such as pickled vegetables and just like a Chinese restaurant, displays its seafood live in tanks to guarantee freshness.

For Chinese guests who enjoy their daily traditional Chinese tea, One&Only Royal Mirage and One&Only Cape Town provide traditional Chinese tea cups from which to drink a selection of teas such as: Pai Mu Tan Tea or White Peony Tea, Gu Zhang Mao Jian or green tea, floral teas such as Dung Ti Oolong and Superior Fancy Oolong, Tarry Lapsang Souchon or black tea and Jasmine Gold.
