Zafran - Hong Kong’s Hottest New Spanish Restaurant
Announces New Late Night Tapas Menu

Following the successful opening of Zafran, the Wyndham Street Spanish restaurant, bar and nightspot is now offering Central’s discerning revellers a new late-night food menu. Available alongside Zafran’s new cocktail list, this menu of substantial tapas dishes will be available until 1am nightly, offering patrons the option of a late dinner or high quality alternative to the area’s notoriously ‘fast’ food selection.

The ‘Late Night Bites Menu’ is priced from HK$88 and is available throughout the week from 11:30pm. The menu includes some of Zafran’s acclaimed signature dishes such as Spanish cheeses with quince jelly, the Selection of Iberico acorn fed hams, Zafran’s homemade chorizo sausage and Gambas ajillo, the classic tapas dish of fresh prawns cooked with garlic and chilli.

To accompany the new late night menu, Zafran’s team of expert mixologists have created the ‘100 Years of Forgotten Classics’ cocktail menu. Priced from HK$90 the cocktails on this new menu include signature drinks such as the ‘Bronx’, which was created by Joseph Sormani in 1905 and consists of gin, orange juice, sweet and dry vermouth and orange peel as a garnish. Other classics include the ‘Corpse Reviver No.1’ created by Harry Craddock in 1930 made with cognac, calvados and sweet vermouth and the ‘Planter’s Punch’, created by Vic Bergeron in 1947 which is dark rum, lime juice, lemon juice mixed with grenadine and sugar.

While Zafran’s chefs and mixologists are preparing late night dishes and drinks, the DJ team are also ensuring a night to remember with their inspired music selection. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10pm distinguished DJs spin a mix of Latin, House and Afro funk music, with some Soulful, Tech House and Hip Hop thrown in to get bodies moving. As well as the venue’s regular top in-house DJs, Zafran has introduced the new ‘Spanish Boogie’ nights every 3rd Friday of the month from 9:30pm till the early hours. Featuring special guests including renowned electronic music experts DJ Piesta and DJ Fudge, the Spanish Boogie nights are already drawing a dedicated and loyal crowd, happy to be fuelled by the excellent cocktails and late night dishes available.

James Ward, Zafran’s Restaurant Manager, states:In keeping with the Spanish tradition of late night dining and socialising we wanted to create a menu that guests could enjoy whilst also providing the best selection of cocktails and great beats to keep everyone entertained into the early hours. Whether it’s an after work drink, a large dinner party or late night drinking hotspot, Zafran’s got it all.”

About Zafran

Zafran is a newly created concept from the Aqua Restaurant Group, adding to the thriving Spanish restaurant scene in Hong Kong. Unique from its peers, Zafran is not just a tapas bar, a Spanish restaurant, or a late night drinking and dancing operation, but all three.

A world away from the traditional Spanish ‘theme restaurant’ interiors, Zafran is a basement venue with an underground flavour that is reminiscent of some of the cooler nightspots of Manhattan.

Zafran offers a mixture of traditional Spanish tapas-sized and larger dishes, including traditional tapas and some more creative reinterpretations, designed to share, these dishes make up a menu that is versatile and suitable for a quick pit stop, a romantic meal for two, an extravagant family celebration or for late night party dining.

To accompany the Spanish menu Zafran’s bar is also well stocked with an extensive wine, spirits and signature cocktail list.

The venue features a live DJ and state of the art sound system.
