MIGF 2014---ALIYAA ISLAND RESTAURANT AND BAR. 'ALIYAA' MEANS 'ELEPHANT' IN SINGHALESE AND JUST AS ELEPHANTS DON'T FORGET, CHEF YOGESHWARAN SELLADOREH SERVED US A SRI LANKAN REPAST WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

ALIYAA IS THE ONLY SRI LANKAN RESTAURANT IN KUALA LUMPUR AND IT IS DOING THAT NATION PROUD BY SERVING AUTHENTIC CEYLONESE DISHES THE WAY THEY ARE COOKED IN THE ISLAND CALLED SERENDIPITY!

Located in Plaza Damansara facing the main road, Aliyaa is easy to spot. Housed in a doubel storey shoplot, the bar is upstairs and not down as expected. The 'island' refers to the bar and not some poolside barbecue.

Aliyaa prides itself by importing all the spices from Sri Lanka plus the chefs too. Even the service staff appear Sri Lankan so this is as good as flying to Colombo or Kandy!

Royal Patron of MIGF YAM Tg Naquiyuddin Tuanku Jaafar said, "One of the reason I wanted to come to Aliyaa tonight is because my daughter is also named Alia but the spelling is different."

It must be added YM Tg Alia Nadira does not in any way resemble a pachyderm and nor did her father aspire her to do so when he named her!

Added YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Jaafar, son of the 10th King of Malaysia, "We ate like elephants tonight and like elephants who never forget, we will certainly remember tonight's wonderful meal!"

Even more astonishing are the prices for the MIGF Festival menu;
RM 98++per person without wine for full menu or RM 88++per person without wine for sharing menu for minimum 4 persons.

As MIGF founder and organiser  Dato Steve Day commented, "This is half the price of breakfast in London!"

And with the money saved, you may wish to purchase one of the paintings/photos by Aliyaa's owner Abbi which hang on the walls!
