A rich, exhilarating and inspiring landmark year is in store for Montreux Riviera! Kicking off in style with the opening of the Modern Times Hotel, this year also celebrates the highly anticipated launch of Chaplin's World, followed closely by that of nest and the reopening of the Alimentarium after nine months of renovation works. 

With the Cully Jazz Festival serving as a taster of what's to come, this year marks the 50th edition of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival and the bicentenary of Lord Byron's visit to the region. For these reasons and more, Montreux Riviera will find itself under the spotlight! 


Chaplin’s World By Grevin to open on 17 April!
 
Chaplin’s World will open to the public on 17 April 2016! Visitors will find themselves immersed in the world of Charlie Chaplin, experiencing a thrilling encounter with one of the 20th century's greatest artists and the personalities who marked his life. 

Chaplin's World is a unique exhibition space marrying culture, entertainment and an incredible journey back in time, drawing on a symbiosis of scenography, multimedia, cinematography and virtual worlds.

In leafy surroundings against a backdrop of the lake and mountains, the legendary Manoir de Ban, where Charlie Chaplin lived with his family, will be open to the public enabling visitors to relive the high points of the artist's life.



Modern Times Hotel, a brand new 4-star Montreux Riviera hotel

Situated atop the hilltops of Vevey and open since the beginning of February 2016, the Modern Times Hotel (4*) celebrates the world of Charlie Chaplin in an elegant, minimalist style. This hotel with its contemporary design offers 138 rooms including 10 junior suites each with a view of Les Pléaides or Lake Geneva. 

It also boasts a restaurant with an open grill and bar, a souvenir shop and a conference centre. Within easy reach of the A9 motorway, the Modern Times Hotel offers extensive parking facilities and is located just a few minutes' drive away from the Chaplin's World museum.



nest – Nestlé's brand new exhibition space – opens on 3 June!

Nestlé is celebrating its 150th anniversary with the opening of nest, a unique interactive exhibition space housed in its Vevey birthplace. Delve into the world of Nestlé – from its origins to its visions of the future – and find out how the company began in this very spot and subsequently grew to become one of Switzerland's global agribusiness leaders. 

This is the historic place where Henri Nestlé invented his first formula for infants in 1866, which led to the creation of milk chocolate in 1875.

Nest will inspire and entertain families and visitors interested in finding out more about Nestlé and the career of this chemist who become an industry pioneer. Wandering through this new exhibition space enables the visitor to enter into the mindset of the Nestlé employees whose innovative products led to fundamental advances in the fields of taste, nutrition, health and well-being.



Byron’s Back celebrates the 200th anniversary of Lord Byron's visit to Chillon Castle
 
On 26 June 1816, Lord Byron first crossed the threshold of Chillon Castle where he became inspired to write one of his most famous poems The Prisoner of Chillon. With his opus attracting an influx of visitors to the region, Lord Byron left an indelible mark on his era thanks to his talent and the immediate success of each published work. 

From 29 April to 21 August 2016, a temporary exhibition will take place at the castle which focuses on Byron's visit to Switzerland through a series of documents, public records, artefacts and rare books. 



Lavaux dances to the beat with the Cully Jazz Festival
 
With the wine-producing village of Cully serving as a base, add a handful of eclectic jazz performances, a dash of UNESCO heritage-listed vineyards, a pinch of Lake Geneva as a backdrop and season with some fine wine – and voilà, the unmistakable Cully Jazz Festival recipe! 

From 8 to 16 April, the village celebrates jazz with the IN Festival's exclusive concerts and the OFF Festival's great live performances held in wine cellars throughout the village. Now in its 35th year, the festival has become a not-to-be-missed event attracting jazz lovers and revellers alike!
